Learning organizations without large budgets to fund or license the development of a modern, custom-fit LMS can still get a world-class experience using Moodle, a free, Open Source learning platform that goes head-to-head with the technological competition. Admittedly, there is still a necessary investment to be made in up-to-date Moodle management skills, but IT staff can keep their knowledge sharp by taking advantage of the vast offering of online Moodle training.
MoodleBites, one of the most popular providers, offers a “MoodleBites for Administrators” course regularly, priced at $399 USD plus taxes. MoodleBites alumni usually give the course high marks. Graduates of the “Administrators” course report an increase in confidence in optimizing their workflow and having an easier time finding their way around and troubleshooting problems.
But even if the MoodleBites fee is prohibitive, the Moodle education platform by official Moodle Partner HRDNZ has launched a complete “MoodleBites for Administrators (MB4A)” YouTube playlist, which anyone can watch for free.
The playlist boasts 28 videos that give learners a complete overview of the ins and outs of managing Moodle Sites, including:
- Appearance (through Themes)
- Site Installation
- User Accounts and Profiles
- Development and Advanced Topics
The videos are only a fraction of the MoodleBites experience, which features lots of resources, real-world practice, thorough assessments, expert teaching, and of course, a certificate of completion (and a badge!) for those who complete the entire 8-week, 30-hour program. Only offered 3 times a year, the next edition “MoodleBites for Administrators” begins in June. Spots are limited and they sell out quickly.
