Moodle 3.4 – the latest Moodle version is released this week with largest number of compatible Moodle plugins on the date of release. In the history of Moodle, no Moodle version has these many compatible Plugins ready on the day of release.
The plugins which are marked as Moodle 3.4 compatible, are awarded with a special Early Bird badge in the Moodle plugins directory. Early Bird badge is given to those plugins who have a compatible Moodle version available by the release date.
This time a total of 163 plugins are awarded with the Early Bird Badge. Last time for Moodle 3.3 the count was 153. The trend of awarding the Moodle Plugins with Early Bird badge is increasing since its inception for Moodle 3.0 when only 81 plugins were awarded.
Here are some interesting stats about the Moodle plugins getting the early-bird badge¹.

Many thanks to David for keeping this trend and improving the overall Moodle plugins ecosystem. The best thing about this initiative is the motivation for plugin developers to make their plugins ready before any major version release. It also shows that so many Moodle plugins are being actively maintained and long-term supported.
