The first lesson from this year’s Learn Moodle MOOC: Teaching With Moodle is a very nice walkthrough of the latest and greatest – version 3.0. You can watch the video here, or simply check it out below:
The walkthrough covers everything a newbie needs to know about Moodle’s layout, default blocks, what you can usually expect to see/experience from a Moodle site and how to navigate around the system, including:
- The quick link navigation menu at the top right corner of the page
- Your profile page
- The sidebar / side blocks and the information they contain
- The customizable user dashboard
- How to dock blocks
- How the view changes responsively for different devices
- The navigation bar
Also covered in this week’s lesson are the Dashboard, What is a course?, How to lay out a course, Editing course sections, Understanding the edit icons, and how to add documents with drag and drop. All in all, a great week for any teacher interested in getting Moodle set up for a class.
