The Business Solutions division of the Sharp Corporation Asia has signed on a partnership with Moodlerooms for an ongoing education program for employees across its hierarchy. Moodlerooms will support the improvement of customer service skills for the regional salesforce. This will include improving the staff’s knowledge of their own technology. More than a thousand employees from Asia Pacific and the Middle East will benefit, according to a Moodlerooms note on the partnership.
Sharp Business Solution specializes in hardware, most notably multifunction printers and LCD displays. Learning organizations can make use of Sharp’s interactive whiteboards for classrooms.
It will be interesting to see how this investment benefits the human talent of Sharp. Chinese Manufacturer Foxconn acquired Sharp, and has announced a wave of layouts, in the hopes of a “turnaround”.
Sharp Corporation hast lost over 80% of market value and $12 billion net in the past 5 years. Since August Sharp lost its spot on the Nikkei, an index reflecting the largest Japanese companies. Foxconn will complete the takeover this year.
Moodlerooms is a customization of Moodle made by Blackboard, a certified Moodle Partner. As Moodle Partner, Blackboard provides resources for the ongoing development of Moodle, as well as technical support and some plugins. The open source Snap theme is perhaps the best example.
For organizations, like Sharp, Moodlerooms offers physical and consulting solutions extending Moodle functionality. This includes hosting and customization, monitoring, security, among others. See the graphic above for details. Moodlerooms offering works on a needs basis, instead of a bundle.
