If you’re using TinyMCE on a Moodle 2.4 or later site there are a seven plugins in the Moodle plugin database that can extend the trusty text editor. The latest updated is the Word Count plugin for TinyMCE which, as the name suggests, provides users a quick word count in the lower bar of the text editor window (if you’re familiar with WordPress you’ll be familiar with the feature).
