If you’re interested in catching up on all of the new stuff the developers are talking about for Moodle or specifically for Moodle 2.7 this past week’s Developer Meeting recording is now available. The 2 hour recording (which also includes the chat log) was captured using Google Hangouts and is available to stream via the Moodle HQ Youtube Channel (you can also watch without the chat log at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSKmp6CuVIU).

If you want a quick read over what was discussed the meeting notes or minutes are available at http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Developer_meeting_January_2014#Meeting_Notes. A few things that jump out at me:

  • Tim Hunt and his team at the OU are working on simplifying quiz editing and creation (similar to that of how course main page editing has been simplified)
  • Bootstrap 3.0 probably won’t be used for the Clean theme in 2.7
  • New navigation for Moodle is being considered (check out prototypes.moodle.net to give it a go and provide your feedback)
  • TinyMCE3 is no more 🙁 (new text editors are being explored)
  • A new version of the Mobile apps are coming soon, Push notifications are a priority
  • 2.7 will receive long term support from Moodle HQ (double the usual 18 months to give institutions an upgrade breather)
