If you’re in Southern California in February you’re already lucky. You’re even luckier though that you can participate in the Open Source Software in Education (OSSIE) track at the 9th annual Southern California Linux Expo in Los Angeles: an event wholly dedicated to promoting the use and development of Linux and other open source software, including Moodle.
According to a note we received about the event, this year’s event includes a full day track on using open-source software in education. The track contains sessions on Moodle, among other technologies.

When I was living in SoCal back in 2008 I had the pleasure of presenting a session on Moodle (before OSSIE had a full day) and attending the event. The event overall is well run and attended and would be a great way to learn about Moodle or other open source software which can be employed in educational settings.
Cost of attending the OSSIE session only is 15 dollars (but a 50% discount is available for students and teachers). Full conference attendance is $70.
WHEN: February 25-27, 2011
WHERE: Los Angeles Airport Hilton, Los Angeles, CA
COST: $15 – $70
