2tor, a rapidly growing and venture-backed online education company announced recently that it was hiring 400 new staff members to facilitate its growth trajectory. Among those hires will be tech support and developers specifically with experience working on Moodle LMS.
While no other information is necessarily available it is interesting to know that 2tor is eschewing proprietary learning management options like Blackboard or eCollege (or others) to pursue its own development on the popular LMS.
According to the FINS article,
With 240 employees, 2tor has grown steadily since its founding in 2008 by Princeton Review founder John Katzman. The company builds technology that helps universities provide online components to their degree programs.
“We’re changing post-secondary education and we want people who are passionate about it,” said Paucek. “It’s a fast-paced environment; we need smart, nimble entrepreneurial folks that are comfortable in a start-up environment.”
2tor was previously known for its ground breaking deal with the University of Southern California Master of Education and Social Work programs which have expanded USC’s reach and alumni base for those two programs significantly in a very short time. Most recently 2tor made headlines again by announcing a partnership with Georgetown University and locking up $32+ million in additional venture funds.
One position is already posted at the 2tor.com/Careers site where they are seeking Senior Software Developers with experience in Moodle development for their NYC offices.
