Minutes before the big Moodle 3.6 launch, Moodle HQ Open Source Development Coordinator Sander Bangma is announcing the release of 4 minor Moodle versions. Moodle 3.5.3 is the only one bringing fixes to general core issues and bugs. The others offer security bug fixes only. Moodle 3.3.8 is the 3.3.+ series’ last release.
GDPRying
The focus continues on GDPR development, both about data protection and management tools for admins. Or should I say, Data Protection Officers.
Bangma reminds that the GDPR plugins, Policy and Data Privacy, are no longer in active development. They were designed for Moodle 3.3.8 and 3.4.3. The functionality is now embedded in all versions of Moodle 3.5 and future.
For Moodle 3.5, new options include
- Data deletion of deleted users
- Data registry configuration summary with a “remove” option
- HTML format for data export requests
- Better user expiry dates choices
- Overriding repository capabilities options
- Bulk data request actions
- Delete data button on profile page
Updating to the latest Moodle version is the best way to ensure GDPR compatibility.
Non-GDPR goodies
Moodle 3.5.3 brings fixes for iOS device, including grading and TinyMCE editor. New small editing and fixing for Forum and Quiz questions.
Also, users will be able to receive notifications if PHP 7.3 is unavailable.
