New details have been announced for MoodleMoot Australia 2018, taking place in the open source LMS’ country of birth. From Perth, the 2016 Moot location, and Sydney in 2017, a new stop is up next: Brisbane, a humid, subtropical city full of heritage that is third in size and touristic activity for the country.
Moodle CEO and Founder Martin Dougiamas will open with his trademark keynote “Moodle for the next 10 years.” By then, we are likely to find big announcements regarding the MoodleNet social network for educators and the “Learn Moodle” professional development curriculum, as just two of Moodle’s new set of initiatives.
MoodleMoot Australia’s preliminary program continues with presentations, a “Dr. Moodle” session featuring representatives from Moodle Partners and Moodle Premium Integrators, a Moodle Users Association meeting, and a reception on the first day. Presentations will fill the second day, starting with a Moodle HQ update. Another “Dr. Moodle” session will complete the afternoon. Don’t miss the South Bank and the Brisbane Festival! The final day will begin with the second keynote of the event, with the presenter TBD. Participants then will be able to join one of several workshops taught by the Moodle HQ team and to reconvene later for a “Moodle features envisioning session.”
And as usual, the event will be topped with a “Moodle Party” with drinks and networking.
MoodleMoot Australia 2018 will take place at the Brisbane Convention Center, home to the Brisbane Bullets and the Queensland Firebirds, Monday to Wednesday, September 24th – 26th. The “early bird” registration deadline, set at $670 AUD for three days + the party, ends Monday, August 27th, after which it’s $750.
