A recent update from the official moodlemoot.org site has eased concerns about the event going on as planned following the devastating effects of the hurricane season in Florida. Since the venue, the Hyatt Regency hotel, was spared from suffering significant damage, the second US Moot of the year is going full steam ahead with no change of schedule, but an enticing proposal on registrations.
Even though MoodleMoot US 2017 – Florida is still a go, the city is only beginning to take on a long and arduous reconstruction. The decision by the Moot committee, as well as the sponsors, to carry on as previously planned is also a show of confidence and support of the local business community. To encourage the largest number of participants possible, the organizing committee has decided to extend the “early bird” registration fees up until a day before the event.
If you submitted a presentation proposal and do not receive a notification of acceptance by Thursday, October 5th, unfortunately you have not been chosen. But this is no reason not to still go and enjoy the many sights and attractions Miami and the Moot have to offer:
- Miami Beach
- One of six pre-Moot workshops, including Mobile, Analytics, and a “Dev Jam”
- The Art Deco District
- CEO and Founder’s “Moodle in the next 10 years” keynote
- Bayside and Bayfront
- A “Moodle envisioning and planning session” focusing on a possible new MoodleNet
- Little Havana, Calle Ocho, and the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
- Conference Dinner and Moodle Party
MoodleMoot US 2017 – Florida will take place Monday, November 6th to Wednesday 8th. Registration with Conference Dinner are open at $550 USD, or $750 USD if you’re including a pre-Moot workshop.
