MoodleMajlis 2017 – the first ever MoodleMoot in Dubai was held on 16 & 17th April 2017. The Majlis was dedicated to the users, developers, administrators and Community members of the most popular open-source course management system – Moodle. The MoodleMajlis hosted over 100+ Moodlers & participants from different parts of the world.
Today, I am going to share a quick recapitulation of the first MoodleMajlis in Dubai. The conference was organized by Smart Way – Moodle Partner in Middle East and sponsored by Etisalat Digital.
I can’t recreate the exact same feelings with my words in this blog about the energy and interactions with MoodleMajlis participants but I will try to give you a quick summary about the same.

Martin Dougiamas – Founder & CEO of Moodle Project gave the first keynote speech about Moodle. The keynote speech includes the Mission & Vision behind the project, Moodle Community involvement, New features coming in Moodle 3.3 and upcoming features for Moodle 3.4, etc.

Martin’s keynote was followed by Gavin Henricks’s Learning Analytics masterclass after a short coffee break.

The final session for the first day was the panel discussion chaired by Rashid Khan & Abdelkader Houssine from Etisalat. The panel includes Dr. Najlaa Al naqbi, Rashed Azim khan, Abdelkader slami houssine, Martin dougiamas as members.

DAY -2 – MoodleMajlis 2017
The second and the last day of the MoodleMajlis started with much more positive energy and another great session by Gain Henrick about Mobile Learning: Tips & Tricks.

Next 4 sessions were organized in different rooms on the following topics:

After a fantastic lunch break and some cool networking within the participants. The final half of Majlis started with another fabulous presentation on Barriers & solutions to cascading LMS across campus by Dr. Zeenath Reza Khan & Insights using Moodle by Ahmad Ashour Frwanya.

Finally comes the last and final session of the MoodleMajlis Dubai 2017 – Panel discussion on Higher Education Panel chaired by Dr. Ahmed Dabbagh from Emirates College of Technology. The panel invites 6 of the best Moodle experts in the region.

Within very busy schedule of Martin Dougiamas, I still got a chance to grab a nice picture with him.
It was an awesome opportunity for me to attend the first MoodleMajlis 2017 and witness the ever-growing Moodle community in the Middle Eastern region. Kudos to the organizers @SmartWay_Me and the host Samer Faisal for organizing such a wonderful conference.
