The Moodle Users Association (MUA) has just announced the winner for its first Development Cycle of the Year. Thanks to the voting and ongoing development by the MUA members, soon Moodle will have a vast number of options to manage question banks in the Quiz activity.
The chosen project, Expanded Question Bank Management/Categorization, allows organizing questions into categories, which could define subjects, chapters or themes for the questions. Furthermore, it will add a “metadata layer” to the questions. This would allow the use of tags without the need of special plugins. It would also add some commonly requested functionality, such as preventing question re-use in testing.
The project is primarily targeted to teachers, who will be able to quickly categorize and label questions, for better selection during testing. Is was submitted by Trevor Jones, who also contributed plugins to the Moodle directory, including Category Administrator.
We had highlighted this project previously: Voting for the next Moodle Users Association Development Cycle ends 6/30
