Founded in 2004, 3ipunt (read “tresipunt”) provides Moodle and open source solutions from an explicit place of support for open source technologies, communities, and thinking. As a member of CatPL, the largest network of Catalan language organizations supporting open source, 3ipunt commits to advocating for open source opportunities through a program that seeks higher recognition, from government to enterprise, and funding for open source initiatives. This is why the Moodle Partner status, through which 3ipunt now commits 10% of its revenue to Moodle HQ, enjoys complete philosophical alignment.
Among the services that 3ipunt can now offer with Moodle’s quality vetting, it counts installations supporting up to a thousand users (10% concurrently) on a standard plan, theme development and customization, consulting, integration, and custom development.
In the field of analytics, 3ipunt claims to be an expert in xAPI and Caliper. Their most visible accomplishment is the Learning Analytics service for Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), a publicly funded open university and Catalonia’s largest. 3ipunt’s Learning Analytics service allows researchers to “support experimentation” through application development and anonymized data sourcing for design based on evidence.
Other 3ipunt’s customers include the government of the Sitges municipality, Catalonia’s Education Department (within which the Marsupial protocol is worth noting), department store El Corte Inglés, insurance company AXA, Andorra’s tourism offices, and Pizza Hut.
With the announcement, 3ipunt becomes the fifth Moodle Partner in Spain. It’s the only site that has a Catalan version of their website to date, even though other partners are headquartered in Barcelona (as Moodle might soon be as well).
