Moodle developers often works with multiple Moodle instances sometimes makes mistake in detecting the non-production environments. Nicholas Hoobin & Brendan Heywood has created a very simple and yet powerful plugin for all developers named Environment Bar which can save you from creating a havoc by identifying which server you currently reside on based on the URL.
The plugin named Environment Bar can warn users with a notification block across the top of the screen when you’re browsing a non-production server like staging or a local development box.

The plugin is available for all Moodle versions above Moodle 2.7 onwards and can be downloaded from the Moodle plugins database here.
You can also configure the bars in config.php file of your Moodle code by adding the code mentioned in the plugin documentation here.
