On Thursday, September 8th 2016, the selected students will present to us the projects they developed under the banner of Google Summer of Code 2016.
For 10 years Moodle has been a participant of GSoC, a global playground where mentored students give software development a try, all expenses paid. This time, Alexandru Elisei from Romania, Supun Wanniarachchi from Sri Lanka, Devang Gaur from India and Joey Andres from Edmonton took three months of dog days vacation to work on plugins and improvements for Moodle.
The projects, which they will present at the meeting, are:
- pluginskel, formerly pluginkenobi, by Alexandru. A “plugin skeleton” to simplify development and ongoing maintenance.
- Protractor testing for Moodle Mobile, by Supun. Supun adapts the AngularJS end-to-end testing framework for Moodle Mobile.
- Global Moodle Search by Devang. Fairly self explanatory, but we hope he enlighten us a little bit about how contexts work in Moodle and optimization of Search API.
- Image crop\resize\rotate in the Atto text editor by Joey.
September 8th agenda will also have, as second item, a discussion on Docker as development and testing environment.
