MoodleMoot Australia 2016 – the moot in the birthplace of Moodle is now over with flying colors. The moot was a special one as it was organized in the city of Moodle birthplace, CEO & Founder of Moodle – Dr. Martin Dougiamas played host for that and concluded by a morning tea in the Moodle HQ.
The conference started with the workshops and developer jam session on Day-1. Over the full day, the participants attended the workshops which includes:
- Introduction to Moodle
- Mobile Learning with Moodle Masterclasses
- Learning Analytics & Moodle
- Online Course Design
- Moodle Assessment
Second day started with the Keynote presentation by Moodle Founder and CEO, Martin Dougiamas about the “New Moodle”. Martin again reiterated the Mission of Moodle project –
“Moodle is not driven by money, it has a mission to support learners to make a go of education and make it accessible to as many as possible.”
In afternoon, James Hamilton from Navitas delivered a keynote presentation titled “Moodle in Wonderland: 7 impossible things” followed by many interesting presentations.
Last day kicked off with Melissa Silk’s keynote: STEAM Innovator | Embedding the Arts in Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths where she showcased students’ projects that fused the arts with science and maths.
After that, Michael Sankey, Vice President of Moodle Users Association (MUA), provided an update to the progress on the projects and organization’s work.
Finally, the Moot concluded with a panel discussion talking about Moodle community and answered the questions of the participants. The panel team consists of Moodle CEO and Founder, Martin Dougiamas and Moodle HQ staff Gavin Henrick (Community Projects Manager), Marina Glancy (Development Manager) and Mary Cooch (Community Educator).
Now, its the time to get ready for another event scheduled close enough with MoodleMoot Australia – MoodleMoot NZX. The event is going to start tomorrow – 5th October, 2016 followed by two complete days for variuos workshops focused for Teachers, Administrators, Managers and Developers.
