Liberal Arts initiative for Moodle CLAMP released new versions of LAE. LAE is a Liberal Arts Edition for Moodle that includes customizations, plugins and bug fixes. While CLAMP is a long time contributor to Moodle core, some enhancements make sense only in LAE.
The recent update to LAE achieves compatibility for Moodle 3.0. Along with the release, CLAMP made a recommendation to update to any of the versions of Moodle 3. An informal survey revealed most CLAMP members are already on course for update by 2017.
Moodle features you can get in LAE include:
- Anonymous posting in forums
- Automatic groupings
- Course meta link UI improvements for metacourses
- Different resource display options for each course.
LAE also includes some plugin recommendations. CLAMP tries to recommend plugins compatible with 3.1. But Course Overview, TurnItIn and McGrawHill, featured in the selection, list 3.0 compatibility only.
For Moodle 3.1 there is a lot of excitement. CLAMP favors it over their own version. Moodle 3.1 features include
- Recycling bin
- Overhauled grading interface
- Competencies, frameworks and learning plans.
