The Cloze Editor Plugin Adds a Button to the toolbar of the rich text editor Atto.
“Cloze test” is the name for those types of assessments where there are words missing across a paragraph. A blank cell replaces the word and by clicking on it a dropdown menu with word options appear. The students must choose the right word from the menu. It is a popular assessment activity for language and grammar learning.
The functionality of the plugin includes a popup menu with all customization options: choices, correct answers and markings. Besides dropdown, choices can be displayed with radio buttons. Other features include duplication of questions. Blank response field (no choices) is also available.
Find a demo here. Look for the question mark icon at the end of the bottom toolbar in the text editor to open the Cloze question popup editor.
Daniel Thies is the lead maintainer of Cloze Editor for Atto, which is in Beta2 version. Testing for Moodle 2.7 on “has gone beautifully”, altough a number of issues about compatibility with Internet Explorer 11 are still open. Other contributors are German Valero and Andreas Glombitza, who wrote the equivalent plugin for the TinyMCE rich text editor.
Download Cloze Editor in the official Moodle Plugin Directory page here. It includes installation steps.
