Custom certificate plugin is a new plugin released in the Moodle plugins database which allows the dynamic generation of certificates with complete customization via the web browser.
Custom Certificate is an activity plugin developed by Mark Nelson and is available for Moodle 2.9 onwards. The plugin allows you to create a PDF certificate for your course participants within the browser window without any PHP skills. It is different from the certificate module developed by the same author and both plugins can coexist peacefully in the same Moodle server.
Custom Certificate plugin for Moodle #MoodlePluginsYou can directly customize the certificate right within your browser window and make it pleasant as per your requirements. The list of elements which can be displayed on the PDF certificate are:

Post Pages - Post Inline - WIRIS
  • Border – this is very important if the certificate might be framed
  • Category name
  • Code
  • Course name
  • Date – you can choose either ‘issued date’ or ‘completion date’
  • Grade
  • Garde item name
  • Image
  • Student name
  • Teacher name
  • Text
  • User field

The plugin seems to be slightly difficult to setup for the first time but once you put some time in learning then you will feel the ease of customizing the certificate. The best thing about this plugin is that you can drag and drop the elements onto the window to decide the position and arrangement which makes it very easy to edit the certificates.
