100234_largeWhile the LearnMoodle MOOC doesn’t start until August, the Moodle MOOC series in its 6th iteration is now underway for the month of May on WizIQ. The program and events are free to attend/enroll.

The course will focus on Moodle 2.8 and providing practical skills and demonstrations of integrated tools for educators either just starting out or already familiar with Moodle. The program includes over two dozen webinars in May on topics such as using Moodle to retaining online students from speakers around the world. Over 900 students have signed up for the course.

According to the MOOC description,

The theme of the current MOOC is collaborative learning, reflective practice, connecting online for instruction and learning, and peace through online learning.

The MOOC will focus on connecting online for collaborative learning and teaching through Moodle, Google Drive Docs, blogs, Google Apps, Mobile Devices, Virtual Classes, and other online learning environments for face-to-face, blended, and fully online learning. In addition, participants will learn to use Movenote, Screencast-o-matic, PresentMe, SlideSpeech, Plotagon, Smore, Quizlet, and other technologies for effective and engaging student-based activities. The live presentations will include the speakers’ reflective process on teaching and learning in fully online and blended learning formats.
