Dropout Detective for Moodle might help you identify at risk students before it’s too late

Here’s a new mod for Moodle that was released by AspirEdu, an education analytics company. The mod integrates their produce, Dropout Detective which performs a risk assessment on all students regularly and provides and easy to use visual dashboard of the risk assessment. For an institution that’s working to improve retention levels this might be a great way to figure out who’s at risk of not completing courses early and then act on it by leading the student to additional resources, checking in on them via email or the phone, or working with them on a study plan to get them back on track. As they say in GI Joe, “knowing is half the battle”.

Looks like it could be pretty handy. The plugin is available for Moodle 2.4 and up and is co-maintained by Juan Leyva and Kim Munzo. Download it here: https://moodle.org/plugins/view/local_aspiredu. Note that pricing is not available at this time (though I would wager a per student cost for the service).

Below is a video of the Dropout Detective in action (albeit on Canvas LMS) which will give you a sense of the various tools it provides to an institution (direct video link: https://vimeo.com/103270939).
