I didn’t have a chance to attend Randy Thornton‘s Conditional Activity presentation at the #MTMoot two weeks back but from the looks of the presentation deck it was a great presentation for those who participated. Mr. Thornton covers the basic settings and a few different scenarios of how you can personalize (or customize, or differentiate through branching) a Moodle course for students using completion tracking and conditional activities and restricted access.
