The Compatibility Test maintained by Aaron Leggett and Chris Clark is a great way to bake a self-check into your Moodle site to ensure that students are alerted if and when they do not have the right version installed of Java or Flash.

This local plug-in provides the functionality to check the users Flash and/or Java version against a pre-set minimum version and notify the user that they are not meeting the sites minimum requirements.

Additionally the user can be force to only view the Plug-in status page while they do not meet the minimum requirements.

The local mod for Moodle is available for Moodle 2.6+. Download it here: https://moodle.org/plugins/view.php?plugin=local_compatability_test
