Helen Foster at Moodle HQ recently announced Moodle’s involvement in the 10th annual Google Summer of Code. GSOC pairs student developers with open source projects and mentors, and pays a summer stipend to help them learn coding in an internship style position. This is Moodle’s 8th year of involvement.
Mentors and Mentees are welcome to connect now in advance of the several month-long summer program. Interested students can learn more here: http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Applying_to_work_with_Moodle_for_GSOC. Those interested in mentoring a project can connect with Dan Poltawski.
Last year students were involved in building all sorts of cool features into Moodle including self-assessment activity, a SCORM player update, global search and course search enhancements, portfolio plugin for Evernote and more. The full 2013 project list can be found at http://docs.moodle.org/dev/GSOC/2013
