This coming Monday April 7th begins the code freeze for all contributions to Moodle 2.7. Release notes for the upcoming major release, which will be a release supported until June 2017, are available here: http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Moodle_2.7_release_notes

According to the post by Michael de Raadt,

The code freeze is a point after which no new code (only fixes to existing code) is accepted until beyond the release. This stabilisation allows for QA testing and means developers are able to respond rapidly to bugs found.

We’re less than two months from Moodle 2.7.
