Here’s a handy video by Mike McHugh of Bismarck Public Schools recorded via Google Hangouts and published to Youtube. The video highlights the use of advanced grading in Moodle and defining and implementing rubrics in a course.
Rubrics are a great way to organize what is being assessed on an assignment (especially for multi-part assignments, presentations or written submissions where students should be assessed on production, content, grammar, coherence and other skills). Read up on Advanced Grading options in Moodle, including rubrics at http://docs.moodle.org/24/en/Advanced_grading_methods.
