Saylor.org, a provider of free college level courses which we profiled on Moodlenews a year ago [article] has seen a dramatic increase in web traffic this year and an overall increase in the number of courses that it offers via it’s custom WordPress CMS and Moodle LMS for assessments (quantitative examinations).
The two sites work well together with simple single sign-on between the sites (and via Facebook). You can click and learn easily and then within a few clicks and a simple authentication be ready to take an examination on the subject of your choice. If you’re interested in checking out any of their courses visit: http://www.saylor.org/saylor-foundation-status/. Read about their 2012 growth or check out their Moodle and take an examination.
As an aside, I have had the pleasure of working with Saylor and we worked to get one of their courses reviewed and recommended for credit (pending assessments and a proctored examination) for StraighterLine. You can read more about the partnership here and check out the Saylor Microbiology (with or without a lab) offered for credit through StraighterLine.
