New Moodle Mobile App for Android: Moodle for #Android YCIS

There’s a new Mobile app out for Android which is YCIS in the app store:  The app is in beta, is free to download and generally works as advertised.

  • The good: nice polished look and feel.  Generally easy navigation between courses and seeing course resources. Potential for uploading files directly from mobile devices.  The app code is also released to the community if you’re interested in testing and further customizing the app to your needs.
  • The bad: non functioning discussion forums (forces a webpage and login for the actual site).  Some course resources (labels) might be lost in the new mobile nav.

According to the developers,

**We are looking for beta testers with non-production sites to assist with bug checking!!!
**Please Please Please ensure your moodle server is SET UP to allow external app access. The server setup guide is available with the source code at the links below or by logging in with the guest access information listed within the download app and the document is downloaded.

Please ask for assistance in setting both the app and the Moodle server up correctly if the app doesn’t function. I cannot help if you just leave a review. I am keen to help you and can if you email me on the address given below.

I played around a bit on the test site that is by default configured for login.  Not too bad.  With some work this could be a really great app.
