The Google Summer of Code (GSOC) pairs students with developer mentors within an open source community to tackle some interesting projects.

Last year gave us Moodle Flavours, a way to back up and restore site wide settings in Moodle.

This year there are 4 projects being tackled by the savvy students (who also get paid for their contributions through Google);

  1. Isuru Madushanka Weerarathna will work with Michael de Raadt on a project to add email_reminders_for_calendar_events
  2. Ankit Gupta will work with Rajesh Taneja to work on a new video/audio capture repository plugin
  3. Mayank Gupta will work with Dan Marsden on improving SCORM 2004 support
  4. Kanika Goyal will work with Dan Marsden to improve the Plagiarism api

Follow these projects and learn more at You can also see a list of possible projects at
