The Google Summer of Code (GSOC) pairs students with developer mentors within an open source community to tackle some interesting projects.
Last year gave us Moodle Flavours, a way to back up and restore site wide settings in Moodle.
This year there are 4 projects being tackled by the savvy students (who also get paid for their contributions through Google);
- Isuru Madushanka Weerarathna will work with Michael de Raadt on a project to add email_reminders_for_calendar_events
- Ankit Gupta will work with Rajesh Taneja to work on a new video/audio capture repository plugin
- Mayank Gupta will work with Dan Marsden on improving SCORM 2004 support
- Kanika Goyal will work with Dan Marsden to improve the Plagiarism api
Follow these projects and learn more at http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/org/google/gsoc2012/moodle. You can also see a list of possible projects at http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Projects_for_new_developers.
