I love course formats and lately I’ve seen some really cool ones. Here is the OneTopic format for Moodle 2.0 which provides a tabbed format (similar to the Animated Slide and Tabbed formats we’ve seen previously). The tabs can each have a custom name (so you can increase the navigability of your courses with text cues) and it’s automatically formatted by the number of course topics you have, which is a bit of a misnomer (as there are obviously more than one topic contrary to what the format’s name suggests).
Cool stuff:
- Easy to use and pretty slick.
- Blocks are persistent throughout the course which is nice
- The “jump to…” option gives alternate navigate through courses
- Customizable tab names
- Colors match your theme
- Current tab is identified by a different color
Download the format from here: http://moodle.org/plugins/view.php?plugin=format_onetopic. Install it to the course/formats folder for your Moodle and voila!
