The “[insert scholarly topic here] for Dummies” series provides distillations of popular topics and content areas. It makes perfect sense perhaps that they’ve finally made one for Moodle. A printed version of the book, written by Radana Dvorak is available for $29.99 at the Dummies.com website, but they also have a handy “cheat sheet” that can get you started.
The cheat sheet covers three main topics:
- Navigating Moodle (complete with some nice tables that highlight all of the theme icons and their purpose/description)
- Finding resources on Moodle (what sites to visit, who to follow, where the best documentation lives)
- Moodle shortcuts (a list of the keyboard commands, for Windows, which work on some browsers with the HTMLarea text editor)
I have not read the book, but the online tutorial (especially the charts of icons) is particularly helpful for newbie Moodlers. Check out the resource yourself by visiting: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/moodle-for-dummies-cheat-sheet.html (which has all three “parts” on the same page). You can also download the whole first chapter at this link.
