Bob Gettings (http://bgettings.com/) is a junior college teacher in Sapporo, Japan and is presenting at iMoot this coming week. His presentation is titled “Tweaking the Forum Module for Peer Discussion and Evaluation” and the session will,
…discuss ways in which teachers can adjust settings and role permissions when using the Forum Module to promote student peer-to-peer discussion and evaluation. Students will have a different experience of communication depending on which of the several types of forum the teacher chooses for an assignment. Group settings also behave differently depending on the forum type. Examples will be given from English as a Foreign Language classes taught in junior college in Japan.
Have you played with local roles in your course yet? This might be a great opportunity to learn how to tweak your course to make it even more student centered.
