If you’re interested in tracking visits and hits to your Moodle site and pages then I would recommend using Google Analytics as an additional tool (aside from the great site reports and user reports that are already created for you in Moodle). Google Analytics is easy to set up and manage and is great to tracking guest users to the site.
This updated block created and contributed by Ricardo Caiado does just that. Simply install the block and instead of adding code to your theme you can easily configure the block with your UA code and start tracking. As long as the block is on each page you want to track metrics will be collected.
- Checkout Google Analytics here: http://www.google.com/analytics/
- Download the block here: http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=4784
Even better, if you want to track throughout myMoodle and course sites and pages add it as a sticky block and forget about it. After a few weeks of tracking you’ll have all sorts of information and data collected and displayed (some similar to the chart below).
