Here are a few Moodle endeavors and happenings in the flood affected state of Vermont (where I grew up and went to college). Happy to be getting back there at the end of September to enjoy the foliage, pick some apples and relax.
- Lyndon State College, Lyndon Center, Vermont [article | Moodle]: Moodle is getting phased into all Vermont State Colleges currently. Each of the states’ regional state colleges have been integrated Moodle since May 2011. LSC is running Moodlerooms‘ Joule. This is the first semester that LSC is using Moodle instead of Blackboard.
- Castleton State College, Castleton, Vermont [article | Moodle]: Unfortunately due to the flood this past month in Vermont (brought on by Hurricane Irene) there was some disruption to CSC’s IT services and student access of Moodle and email. Which goes to show that while Moodle provides a great alternative access points in the face of catastrophe it’s not a 100% solution in the case of floods, power outages or other issues.
- GlobalClassroom.us, Burlington, Vermont [Moodle]: I worked for this company for 2 years before moving to StraighterLine and gained a lot of my Moodle experience with their installation and free/paid hosting options for teachers and schools. GlobalClassroom hosts eclassrooms based on the Moodle platform for many schools and teachers in Vermont and the Northeast and now is offering hosting for teachers for as little as $5 a month. If you’re interested in supported, ad-free hosting check out GlobalClassroom.us. Please note that they are not a Moodle Partner.
