the RSMS Moodle Guide (it’s great)

2094

Here’s an open Moodle resource from the Royal School of Military Survey, or RSMS [http://www.rsms.ac.uk/], which uses Moodle as it’s main website.

WIRIS

The resource pulls from many great sites and tutorials around the web but puts it all into an easy to follow context covering (click any of the links to go straight to the topic),

  1. Intro
  2. Managing profiles, course settings and files
  3. Adding Resources
  4. Adding choice, DBs and videos
  5. Assignments
  6. Quizzes
  7. Chat/Email
  8. Forum
  9. Groups
  10. References
  11. Themes

Check it out or refer your teachers to it as a great starting point and a great example of some easy ways to improve navigation in the course (I really like the Section links block and collapsed topic which provides a more Blackboard-like navigation option*).

You can even grab the theme used in their courses or their home page: http://www.rsms.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=134&topic=11

*–however it appears that those are currently not functional so use the “Jump to…” drop down to navigate through the course.
