Patrick Malley of Newschoollearning.com (a Moodle partner) recently submitted a new theme to Moodle.org that inherently uses the YUI library drop-down menu. In plain speak, Patrick has released a Moodle theme template the incorporates drop-down menus into the navigation and theme.
The theme can be further modified to incorporate drop-down menus which include “my courses” or other handy information. The discussion and a bit more helpful code are found here: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=142778 (Moodle.org login required).
A screen shot (shown) as well as links to download the theme’s zip file are located at Moodle.org: http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=26&rid=3359
For anyone that would like to see the menu in action, Patrick has a “sandbox” setup on his site where you can apply many of his themes to get a more hands on experience: http://newschoollearning.com/sandbox/?&theme=base_menu.
Be sure to check out newschoollearning.com‘s other themes which are both crisp and accessible. Many are available for free download from the site.
